"I always knew what I wanted to be. There was never a question: when I finished high school I was fixed on going to college to be a landscape architect. ‘Ornamental Horticulture and Environmental Design’ was the Bachelors degree program at Delaware Valley College in Doylestown—and I loved it. I couldn't get enough of what I was learning, and soaked up all I could: the plant material, the design principles, the drafting techniques, anything and everything related to horticulture. 

 

That summer, in 1992, I was introduced to landscape and home construction while working for a retail nursery and landscape company—and I loved it. I couldn't wait to get to work each day. It was deeply satisfying: the planning, the tools, the problem solving, the materials, and the sense of accomplishment that came from working hard all day to create something. 

 

Fast forward 25 years (or so) and I've never set aside either discipline. I continue to love the art and craft of landscape design and, at the same time, the hands-on construction of projects: knowing the materials, attending to the details and perfecting the craft that gives me such satisfaction.

 

Along the way I've learned something very interesting: the two disciplines (design and build) are, in fact, perfect compliments. Each discipline constantly informs and improves the other. 

 

This combination means I am involved personally in each project from start to finish and beyond. That’s the whole point of a boutique landscape company: to serve clients who enjoy their projects as much as I enjoy building them.”
